Hello, I'm Kristin King (she/her)

LMFT #109616

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist, and clinical supervisor, with over a decade of experience working with people to explore relational themes. I use a combination of evidence-based approaches and a conversational style to walk with clients as they build healthier relationships with themselves and those around them.

I know from my own life that it can be hard to get started. It can feel overwhelming to search for the right therapist, and daunting to commit to something that might not always feel good. But exploring yourself and your relationships can also open doors that were previously closed. And it can lead to more self awareness, less strife and conflict in your relationships, and a happier and healthier life.

PHILOSOPHY + APPROACH

I believe therapy works best when you feel safe, seen and heard. Research shows one of the most important predictors of positive therapeutic outcomes is when someone feels connected to their therapist and secure within the relationship. Creating that space provides the safety to explore who you are and what you need.

My work is founded in attachment theory. It presumes that we are hard-wired to need relationships, and that those relationships  leave imprints that can last throughout our lives. Some of these we cherish and some we’re ready to change. We’ll go at your speed to uncover patterns within your relationships, helping you navigate challenges and bolster resiliency.

My style is compassionate, authentic and direct with some humor sprinkled in. Recognizing that each client and couple are different, I use an integrative style, drawing from a variety of therapeutic approaches and evidence-based techniques, including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Systems Therapy, mindfulness practices, and psychodynamic theory.
